Port Lincoln Golf Report
Stableford was the name of the game this week with a big thanks to Shield Security who sponsored the week of competitions. There were just shy of ninety players that came out to play on Saturday for the first day of August. A fierce contest took place between David Krollig and Grant Heidenreich in C Grade with only one shot separating them. In the end it was David who stood tall with a score of 39, just ahead of Grant’s 38 points. A countback was required in A Grade with both Shaun Todd and Michael Freeman both playing to handicap and scoring 36 points. Ultimately though, it was Shaun who was victorious. The largest gap between first and second was found in B Grade where Tom Dawson put in a stellar performance to register 39 points. Behind him, Dylan Puckridge secured second with 36.
In the ladies competition, Reeta Devi found herself in the winners list with her score of 34. Close behind were Elaine Pierik and Jill Arcus who both submitted scores of 33.
In Thursday’s Stableford Competition, Libby Dolphin was a breakaway winner, marching forward with a well respected score of 39. Heather Darley was able to lock in second place via a countback from Elaine Pierik with both women scoring 35 points.
Score of the week was to be found on Wednesday after Scott Lombe shot 72 off the stick, netting himself an incredibly impressive score of 43. On any other day, Codey Marchesi would have thought himself a good chance at victory in A Grade but had to settle for second with his score of 39. A countback was necessary to find a winner in B Grade with Mark Cooper just sneaking past Michael Gurr with both men scoring 37 points. C Grade saw Nathan Miller at the top after putting together a round of 35 while Bill Healey was two shots behind.
Sunday’s competition saw Ally Russell ascend to the top of the mountain, putting together a hearty score of 39. David Bellchambers took second place with his score of 38 while Kylan Miller and Tim Pobke were both another shot behind.
