Port Lincoln Golf Report

Gentler conditions greeted those playing out at the Port Lincoln Golf Course this week, leading to an increase in numbers over all competition days. Thanks go to EP Cleaning Supplies for their sponsorship this week. With a field of seventy-six men taking to the field for Saturday’s Stableford competition, Mitchell Garrett was able to take away honours after top scoring on the day. His score of 38 was just enough to keep Daniel Townsend with 37 at bay. There was a bit more of a gap in B Grade between first and second as Rick Kolega romped home with his score of 37. Phil Lessue was his closest rival with his score of 33. Chad Batterbury claimed bragging rights in C Grade, submitting a score of 37, just one shot clear of Garry Downey and Danny Sharp.

A countback was required to find a victor in the women’s Stableford competition. Helen George clawed her way past Heather Darley with both women scoring 32 respectively while Elaine Pierik was on their heels with her score of 31.

Twenty women took part in Thursday’s Par competition which saw Debra Tromp submit the score of the day with +2. Heather Darley came in second with her score of 0 while Ally Russell was a further two shots behind.

Wednesday’s Stableford competition was played over three grades where Ben Abley was victorious in A Grade after putting together a score of 37. Michael Freeman took out second place with his score of 35. B Grade was taken out by Warren Rosman, his score of 38 was too much for his nearest opponent Dylan Puckridge with 36. Andy Smith was able to sneak past Kylan Miller in C Grade with the two of them scoring 37 and 36 respectively.

Sunday’s Stableford competition saw Nathan Miller take the win with his score of 36, just one ahead of a fast-finishing Heather Darley.
