Port Lincoln Golf Report
It was Monthly Medal time out at the Port Lincoln Golf Club on Saturday with ninety-eight men and eighteen women taking part in Stroke Competition. This week’s competitions were sponsored by Sportspower, the most grandiose score would be found in B Grade with Tim Pobke shooting six over the card for a stellar 78 off the stick. His nearest competitor would be Shaun Anderson who was four shots behind. Huey Rosalia was victorious in A Grade, with his 74 off the stick, two clear of Josh Hausler, Rob Humphries and Daniel Brown. C Grade was dominated by Michael Gurr with his round of 87, Eric Thomason would have to settle for second with his 91.
On the Women’s side of things, Elaine Pierik had a Nett score of 69, a single shot clear of her closest adversary in Heather Darley with Kay Freeth and Adie Fraser both close behind with each having a Nett score of 72.
Twenty five women partook in Thursday’s Stableford competition with a Val Sharrad shining brightest, a stunning score of 43. Kaye Jaensch put together a wonderful round of 39 to settle for second while another six women played better than their handicap.
Wednesday’s Stableford competition saw fifty-eight players take to the course. Huey Rosalia took out A Grade once more, his score of 36 just enough to edge past Shaun Todd via countback. B Grade was taken out by Dylan Puckridge, his score of 40 was just enough to take out the day by a single shot over Derek Williams. Score of the day belonged in C Grade with Scott Ambrose trouncing his opponents with a stunning 43 points. His closest rival was Nick Tromp who was six shots behind.
Monday’s public holiday allowed players to compete in Stableford competition. Geoff Nottle found his way atop the leaderboard with a well fought 39 points. Young Zac Brown came in second with 37 points, one shot clear of his father Daniel Brown.
Stableford was also played on Sunday with 43 people coming out to play. Over a third of the players played to their handicap or better but it was Dylan Puckridge who took out honours with an incredible 43 points. Danny Sharp settled for second with his 40 points, one shot ahead of Nick Tromp and Debra Tromp.
