Port Lincoln Golf Report
Golf and Seafood week is just around the corner and as such the golf course was full to the brim throughout the week of those looking to get one more round of Stableford in before the championships begin. Eighty nine men took part in Saturday’s competition where the most thrilling battle was found in C Grade. A countback was necessary to find a winner with Michael Kenny doing just enough to clutch onto the win ahead of David Krollig with both men scoring 41 points. A countback was also required in A Grade with Huey Rosalia just edging poast Trent Bradford with each of them scoring 37 points. No countback was required in B Grade as Kallan Fowler had the score of the day with a whopping 42 points to his name, three clear of Tate Secker and his score of 39.
Lyn Hosking was victorious in the ladies competition after putting together a well earned 37 points. She was clear of a wall of players combating it out for second place with Reeta Devi sneaking past Helen George and Adie Fraser with all three scoring 36.
Thursday’s round was taken out by Cynthia Thompson, finding the hole with ease on her way to 40 points. Jo Higgins fought valiantly on her way to 38 points while Julie Baird and Lyn Hosking were another shot behind.
Wednesday saw Codey Marchesi top A Grade with his score of 39 just one shot clear of Kye Barber. Rick Kolega made his statement in B Grade, putting together a mammoth 42 points. Steven Thompson took the silver medal with his score of 38. It was a close affair in C Grade with Leon Newman and his score of 38 just getting past Bob Sorensen and Chad Batterbury who both had 37 points.
A good field of 28 players made their way out on Sunday where another countback was required, this time with Liz Weatherspoon getting the better of Helen George after both women score 38 points.
