Port Lincoln Golf Report
After three testing weeks of Stroke Competition, players at the Port Lincoln Golf Course have finally been able to put the gruelling challenge behind them. With Eyre Trading Company providing sponsorship through the week, after three consecutive weeks it was Dylan Bell who had his name etched in history after rounds of 78, 77 and 77 resulted in a score of 232. Dylan was nine shots clear of second position where Codey Marchesi registered a score of 241. B Grade was a far closer affair with only a single shot separated first and second after 3 weeks. Kym Hosking was able to claim B Grade honours after scoring 269, just ahead of Warren Rosman. Graeme Dyke was the crowning jewel of C Grade after scoring 292, six shots clear of Garry Downey.
Women’s Club Championships concluded this week as well with Reeta Devi too strong in A Grade after shooting 260 over three weeks. She was a whopping twelve shots clear of Cynthia Thompson who finished with 272. In B Grade a rare playoff was required where three extra holes were required to find a winner. In the end it was Jill Arcus who ended up victorious ahead of Elaine Pierik after both ladies finished with 317 to their name. C Grade was a close affair with only three shots between first and second. Lorraine McDonald managed to claim the win with her 370, just ahead of Diana Laube.
Saturday’s Stroke competition saw 73 men take to the field. With the Championship looming overhead, Shaun Thomas made his bid on the final day after he put together a Nett score of 68, victorious on the day via a countback ahead of Kye Barber. Morgan McCarroll found himself the winner of B Grade after his Nett score of 71 found him one shot clear of Ben Jaensch. The C Grade saw Scott Clark taking advantage of the conditions to register a Nett score of 70. Close behind him was Kylan Miller with his Nett Score of 73.
The women played in Stableford Competition on Saturday where Libby Dolphin strolled away with the win after submitting her score of 35. Cindy Carr secured second with her score of 33 while Kay Freeth was another shot behind.
Thursday’s Stroke Competition saw Ally Russell take out the honours in the Nett competition with her score of 70. Cynthia Thompson was close behind with her score of 74 while Jo Higgins and Adie Fraser both registered a Nett score of 75.
Stableford Competition greeted the men on Wednesday where Kym Hosking topped A Grade with his score of 35. Trent Bradford did his utmost but just fell short with his score of 34. A countback was required in B Grade with Peter Kenny just edging past Phil Hyde after both ben put in scores of 33. Score of the day was to be found in C Grade after David Krollig entered a score of 37, just one ahead of Nathan Miller.
Sunday’s Stableford Competition also required a countback to find a winner with All Russell just sneaking her way past Steven Forstner with both players scoring 37. Tyson Dodd almost joined them with his score of 36 while Liz Weatherspoon was another shot behind.
