Port Lincoln Golf Report

The competition was tough this week out at the Port Lincoln Golf Course. Thank you to Mitre 10 and Hazeal Newman Financial Services who supported the week’s competitions where hundreds of players made their way through fairways, roughs and everything in between.

On Saturday score of the day was to be found in B Grade where Jarrod Childs stood tall, his score of 39 Stableford points was enough to just get past Juri Berzins and his score of 38. In the A Grade, Scott Lombe had a return to form with a stellar 38 points. Robert Proude was not far behind with his 37. C Grade saw a countback necessary as Grant Heidenreich was able to get his nose ahead of Ross Palmer with both men shooting 38 points.

A countback was necessary to crown Reeta Devi the winner in the women’s Stableford competition with both she and Carolynn Cocks walking into the clubhouse with 39 points next to their name.

On Thursday the women took part in Par competition and, as was the case on Saturday, a countback was required. Margaret Jenkins was just able to sneak past Carolyn Cocks with both women scoring +2, one shot ahead of Lyn Hosking.

Wednesday’s Stableford competition saw Kris Bunder stand at the top of A Grade with a mammoth 40 points to his name. Daryl Evans strolled in with a score of his own having netted 38 points. Mark Cooper was victorious in B Grade, a very neat 40 points to his name. Brian Henson was not too far behind with his 37 points. C Grade saw Boris Kovavic take honours with a clean 38 points. Brian Smith was able to take second by playing to his handicap, finishing with 36 points.

Sunday’s Stableford competition saw seventeen players take to the field. At the end of the day, Kye Barber stood atop the mountain having put forth a great round of 40 points. Brett Davies and Daniel Brown fought it out for second, the former getting the position via countback with both men scoring 39.
