Port Lincoln Golf Report
If this week proves anything in the world of Port Lincoln Golf, it does not matter the conditions as people will still make their way to the course. On Wednesday in sweltering conditions forty one players bravely (foolishly) tackled the plus forty degree conditions in their bid to be victorious. With the week being sponsored by SA Plumbing Supplies, David Bellchambers was the best on ground with his stellar 39 points leaving his opponents reeling not only in the B grade but throughout all grades. Dylan Puckridge came second in B grade with 37 points, the only other player to better their handicap on the day. A grade saw a countback required to decide a winner with Shaun Todd just edging past Rick Kolega, both men scoring 35. C Grade saw another countback required as Brian Smith found a way past David Norman with each man scoring 34.
Par was the name of the game on Saturday with eighty two men and eight women taking to the field. Stuart Callary took honours in A Grade, his score of 6 was two better than his nearest rival in Rob Humphries. B Grade saw Graeme Dyke stand victorious with a score of 5, Toby Rawson was close behind with 3. Wayne Smith’s score of 5 just saw him take victory in C grade, creeping past Shaun Carpenter on a countback.
Val Sharrad breezed past the competition on the women’s side of things, her score of 3 was four better than her nearest competitor in Cindy Carr.
Val Sharrad also took the honours in Thursday’s stableford competition although this time in much more gritty conditions. 42 points saw her victorious via a countback with Lyn Hosking just missing out and Maxine Garnaut close behind on 39.
Monday’s Stableford competition saw Adam Sullivan blitz his way around with an almighty score of 41 points while Rob Humphries score of 37 saw him settle in second.
Twenty six players took part in Sunday’s Stableford competition where Kye Barber stood atop the mountain with 40 points, Scott Lombe was close on their heels with a score of 39.
