Port Lincoln Golf Report
Fatigue undoubtedly set in after Golf and Seafood week with smaller numbers coming out to the golf course this week despite the pristine conditions. Even with the smaller fields, scores were big across the week as Lower Eyre Physio sponsored the competitions.
Saturday’s Stableford Competition was top scored in C Grade as Kylan Miller bested his handicap by seven shots to put 43 points next to his name. Lachlan Jenkins undoubtedly felt a little short-changed coming in second with his 40 points. It was a close affair in A Grade where Adam Davies’ score of 38 was enough to keep Clinton Scharfe behind him by a single shot. Grant Woods took out B Grade with his score of 41, Mark Butt unable to bridge the gap with his score of 37.
Cindy Carr topped the Ladies Stableford Competition. Her score of 35 was just enough to claim victory with Josie Bacchus close on her heels with her score of 34.
Thursday saw competitors take part in a Par competition. Cynthia Thompson was the top of the table with +3. Leslee Findlay was runner up with her score of +1, while Helen George was a further two shots behind.
Wednesday’s Stableford Competition saw Michael Hegarty take out A Grade with his score of 37. Daniel Townsend was just out of reach with his score of 36. Score of the day was found in B Grade where a countback was required to find a winner. Peter Leahy was able to get the better of Steven Thomson with both men scoring 41. Michael Kenny claimed C Grade with his score of 35 while David Reid was three shots off the pace.
Peter Leahy topped Monday’s Stableford Competition to show that he is in a run of form, 37 points enough to take the win while Ally Russell was close behind with her score of 36.
Kylan Miller also showed that his other result was no fluke as he topped Sunday’s Stableford Competition with a score of 42, six shots clear of both George Mayhew and Mitchell Garrett.
