Zac Brown Brings Down Big Hitters
With seventy-three men descending on the golf course Wednesday, it was the youngest player who stood tall at the end of the day with the highest score. Under Stableford conditions and sponsored by Sportspower Port Lincoln, Zac Brown top scored not only C Grade but the entire field, his score of 42 points trumping his opponents with Andy Smith being his closest rival four shots off the pace. Elsewhere, Ben Abley took out A Grade with 37 points, just one shot ahead of Kris Bunder while B Grade was settled via countback, Juri Berzins just edging past Grant Woods with both men scoring 38 points.
Sportspower Port Lincoln sponsored the ladies on Thursday with twenty one women competing in Par competition. While Elaine Pierik put up a good fight by playing to handicap, it was Libby Dolphin who walked away victorious having shot a score of +3. Darley Heather, Margaret Jenkins and Liz Trigg had to share third place.
Saturday saw eighty men and fifteen women take part in a Stableford competition, Sportspower once again sponsoring the competition. A grade saw Andrew Fraser top score, having shot five shots better than his handicap granted him a score of 41 points, two clear of Rex Bichard. Luke Murray topped B Grade with 40 points, Phil Lessue chasing behind with a score of 36. David Krollig top scored C Grade with 42 points, John Dempsey his closest rival with 37.
On the women’s side of the competition, Lyn Hosking found herself atop the leaderboard, her score of 40 points getting her past the fast finishing Adie Fraser who had to settle with 38 points.
Sunday’s Stableford competition, also sponsored by Sportspower, saw ten players taking to the field with Danny Sharp standing tall. His score of 39 was enough to see him get past George Mayhew and James Blewit.
