Conditions were not the kindest for those braving the weather out on the golf course this past Saturday with blustery conditions and heavy rain causing all sorts of trouble. Helen George made the best of a bad situation in stroke play with EP Cleaning Supplies sponsoring the week’s competitions. Storming past the competition, her round of 72 Nett was six shots clear of her nearest competitor in Heather Darley with Elaine Pierik and Joanne Higgins close behind.
Sixty men took to the field in Saturday’s Stroke competition, not letting the chaotic conditions deter them. A Grade was taken out by Dylan Vonderwall with his Nett score of 68, a full seven shots clear of Haydn Myers and Adam Sullivan. B Grade had to be settled via countback as Geoff Nottle just edged past Ben Jaensch, both men having a Nett score of 70. Garry Downey was the best in C Grade, his Nett 72 was two shots ahead of Bill Healey and Brad Giles.
Thursday’s Stableford Competition saw a countback required as Jennifer McDonald just edged past Michelle Smith, each scoring 37 points.
Men’s Wednesday Stableford Competition saw Daniel Brown triumph in A Grade, his 37 points just edging past Haydn Myers on a countback. 37 points was enough for Graeme Charlton to take out B Grade, one shot clear of his nearest competition in Geoff Nottle. Visitors were the men of the hour in C Grade, with Stuart Bell, representing the SGA GC, scoring 40 points. Behind him was Derek Williams from Kyancutta who successfully played to handicap with 36 points.
