Visitor Nails Dream Ace
Rowan Haslam was a long way from his local golf course, that being The Vines Golf Club of Reynella in Adelaide yet will be returning with the best tale to tell at the clubhouse after having scored a Hole in One. No putter was required after Rowan walked onto the eighteenth green only to find his ball in the bottom of the cup. Understandably, there was much rejoicing.
Saturday’s Stroke competition was the third round of the Club Championships sponsored by Spot On Fishing. It was a family affair in A Grade with Dylan Bell scoring 74 off the stick, bringing him to 226 at the end of three rounds. Simon Bell was runner up after scoring 76, bringing his total to 231. Peter Fare was the top of B Grade, his round of 85 brought his three day total to 263. Peter Kenny’s final round of 91 resulted in him having a total of 267. Brett Bennie topped C Grade with his final round of 99 bringing his total to 285. David Norman shot a blistering round of 94 but was unable to close the gap, finishing with 293.
The Printing Press sponsored the Ladies Saturday Stableford competition. Helen George top scored with 34 points; one shot clear of Adie Fraser.
The Printing Press also sponsored the Ladies Thursday Stableford competition where sixteen players took advantage of the conditions. Liz Weatherspoon found herself atop the table having pulled together a stellar round of 38 points. Diana Laube’s score of 36 secured her second place.
Wednesday’s Stableford Competition saw 60 men take part with the day being sponsored by Hunts Fuel. Tyson Dodd was victorious in A grade, his 36 points giving him a one shot advantage over Mitchell Garrett. Mark Cooper found himself five shots clear of the rest of B Grade, 43 points the envy of most. Graeme Dyke’s 38 points had him settle for second place. Score of the week belonged to Patrick Browne who shot 44 points in C Grade, Lindsay ‘Flash’ Gordon seven shots behind.
